Now on to the new product.
Its a product that according to the armchair audio experts should not exsist.
The thing is, I stumbled upon these drivers around 2 years ago. I only had two, and I broke one shortly after I got to listen to them for about 5 minutes! So it was a short lived affair.
So about 2 years go by, and after I have spent everything I have with them, there are now willing to send me demo products more often. So I asked Knowles for some more of those particular drivers.
And they sent them... I threw them together, and got the "wow" factor. (just as I did a few years back)
Initially I wanted to use them to make a true IEM, like the GRO1, Klipsch X10, ER4P etc. But due to the fact they are so high in impedance I am afraid there would be to few customers to warrant building a real IEM around them.
So I kind of "gave up" on them but now since Inks pissed me off...
The thing is, this thing is every bit a refference IEM as the 4.Ai, if not more due to the fact this thing is crazy flat, and I don't mean sounds flat, I mean graph flat and sonically flat.
But on the plus side, it is High Impedance so it really does not directly compete against the 4.Ai, but ultimately it shares a lot of what the 4.Ai is, without the controversy. (Although due to the fact of the impedance, I will probably get hammered for that as well)
Seriously, this driver has the ability to hit "legendary" status. (ER4P material)
