Hi Frans.

The Starlight is in my posession right now, and it is a wonderfull little thing. Billede I'm just wondering, which combinations of the output impedance jumpers are valid, and what are the resulting output impedance of each combination?

Hi Niels,

The Starlight has 2 output resistance options.
Low and high.

'Low' is around 3 Ohm when only one output opamp per channel is used and 1.5 Ohm when 2 output opamps are used.
In the 'high' setting the output resistance is around 70 Ohm which is more or less a trade-off for output resistance and output power and is between the 'mid' and 'high' value of the Ember.

The Ember (which will be sent to Claus within the coming days) there are 3 output resistances.
0.1 Ohm, 35 Ohm and 120 Ohm.

You just have to play around withe the settings (you can download/view the manual at garage1217.com) as each headphone reacts differenent to different output R's.

Don't be fooled by the 'high' and 'low' markings when it comes to output level.
in the low position (when the volume pot is not changed) the output level will be high.
In the high position the output level will be low.
The lower the impedance of the headphone the more 'dramatic' the effect (bass boost and volume drop)

After setting the output R you will have to re-adjust the volume knob.

Thx. Much obliged.
